Privacy policy
Effective August 18, 2026
CityTrover is a local events guide. The honest summary: our business is venues paying
for visibility — not your data. The app currently has no sign-in and no tracking pixels,
and almost everything it remembers stays on your own device.
What stays on your device
- Saved plans and settings — events you star, filters, whether you've seen the intro.
Stored in your browser/app storage on your device. We never see them. Clearing the app's
site data erases them.
- Your location — if you use "Near me," your device's location is used on-device to
sort venues by distance. It is not sent to us or stored anywhere.
What leaves your device
- ZIP lookups — if you type a ZIP code, it's sent to the open geocoding service
zippopotam.us to get map coordinates. A ZIP code alone doesn't identify you.
- Standard web requests — the app is served by Vercel, fonts by Google Fonts, and
venue avatars load directly from Facebook's public image servers. Like any website visit,
those services see routine request data (such as your IP address). We don't add
identifiers to any of it, and our only analytics are the anonymous usage counts described below.
- Things you choose to send — the "Add an event" and artist/venue forms open an
email from your own mail app to ours. Nothing is sent unless you hit send, and we use
what you send only to maintain the listings.
Artist & venue accounts
- Fans never need an account. Browsing, searching, and saving plans work with
no sign-in at all.
- Bands and venues get business accounts to manage their pages, calendars, and
promotions. For those we collect what's needed to run the service: your name, email,
and the band/venue details you publish (which are meant to be public — that's the point).
- Billing for venue promotions is handled off-app (invoice/email today; a payment
processor later — card details would go to the processor, never stored by us).
- Account holders can ask us to correct or delete their account data at any time via
the contact below.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share personal information — not fans', not artists', not
venues'. Venues pay for clearly labeled placement (the gold ★ Featured and Spotlight
slots); your data is never part of any deal.
- We keep anonymous usage counts (which screens get opened, how often the map or a save is used) through our web host's cookie-free analytics. They are totals only: no names, no device IDs, no cookies, nothing that follows you to other sites. No third-party advertising networks or tracking SDKs, no cross-site tracking,
no data brokers.
- CityTrover is made for adults planning nights out. We don't knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us
any, contact us and we'll delete it.
